remote desktop

By iamobi1 ·
I want to monitor users activity since their seems to be some inappropriate use of our company workstations.

does anyone know of any software that i can install on several workstations and then be able to monitor and take control of the workstations with out the user ever getting a prompt.

freeware would be preferable to me.

Try using VNC. You can download the free versions from It is cross-platform. You simply type the
IP address into VNC to connect. I believe it does give the
option to prompt the user or not. Be sure to install the
server version onto their computers and the client version to
yours. This will allow you to control. As for monitoring, a
simple packet sniffer or an application like Ethereal should
be sufficient, since it will give source and detination IP
addresses with port numbers.
