Remote Desktop Connection Problems

by andy_burt . Updated 19 years, 7 months ago

Problem with Remote Desktop Connection – I can connect to my office LAN and my office Win XP Pro machine from my home XP Pro machine via Windows VPN but cannot get Remote Desktop to function correctly. My remote desktop appears but I usually do not get any response to my local mouse or keyboard. Sometimes the screen “repaints” and a network icon with a red “X” flashes in the upper-right corner of the screen. Every now and then when I try, the connection works perfectly but in no identifiable or repeatable pattern. I’ve brought an XP Pro laptop home from the office and remote desktop works perfectly from it when it’s connected to my local LAN. Windows is completely up to date with SP?s and updates. I can continuously ping my office PC over the VPN with no apparently hiccups or loss in connectivity. Any ideas?
