Remote Exchange accounts

By Megtek ·
Hi there,

If I have employees who do not need network access (Active Directory) but ONLY need e-mail...do I have to create Active Directory accounts for them, or can I JUST create an Exchange account for e-mail?

Thank you.

There are three types of account:
a) Mail-enabled account. AD account with an email address only
b) Mailbox enabled account. AD account with a mailbox on an Exchange server
c) Contact. Email address (no mailbox or AD account).

If you need a mailbox then option B is required with an AD account. You can prevent login to workstations by setting Account Workstation restrictions.
