Remote Execution of a file

By mschlank ·
We use W2K Professional on all PCs, and W2K Server with AD & Group Policies.

Is there a way to "remotely" distribute and execute a single file, such as a .reg file or .bat file to multiple user's PCs. With the least amount of user input.

Instead of making an MSI file.

if you put the file in the netlogon folder of the server it will run when a client logg into the domain. Of course for certain programs (like the .reg ) to execute they have to have admin rights.

I read the other posts also,
I think it's best to browse for the ms resource kit and the white documents for anything. I don't know of way now by hart.

I know in AD you can push programs and files through. don't ask me how yet.

Another approach is to use a tool like PSEXEC from Sysinternals to connect to a remote system, then from there launch and execute the file.
PSEXEC is in the free tools section, under PSTools.
www.sysinternals.com

hope this helps
