Remote Sharepoint Access

by ohm.paul . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

I am looking for a way to provide remote access to our internal sharepoint site from the outside. I have looked at a couple of ways, including setting up a VPN, remote desktop, or MS IAG. What would be the best (both in cost and security) solution for this task? All the user needs to be able to do is access the sharepoint site (including read and write). The outside user does not require access to any other company resources.

Also, would the home user require a CAL in order to access the sharepoint site? Obviously, if the user were using remote desktop, it wouldn’t need a CAL since the desktop in the company LAN would have one already.

Would OpenVPN be a good way to set up such a session or is there a better way to accomplish this?
