Remote Support Software

By judyh0311 ·
I need a little advice. I am looking for a very small remote support software package. It will only be for my personal use in assisting my brother who lives in another state. Our goal is mainly to allow me to help him from time to time. It is strange I know but he has his first computer and knows nothing about them and gets stuck a lot setting up different things and moving around. We just want a small setup where I can go in remotely and help him when he needs it. Nothing major. Does anyone have any suggestions to a program that would do this and not cost a fortune? Thanks in advance for the help.

Some suggestions

VNC ( If all you want to do is look, the free edition is a good choice. If you need some control as well, a license for the personal edition costs US$30.

LogMeIn ( The free version will allow you to log in to your brother's PC, but he will probably need to log off.

only the fastest, easiest, and friendliest for you judy... go to and follow the easiest instructions you could ever have. its free and my 9 year old girl did it for me when she was visiting her grandma the other day.

It's VNC for dummies and it goes right through firewalls and routers.

If you're looking for a basic remote support tool, those packages mentioned will be perfect for you. If you're looking for full-featured remote support software: It isn't free, but there is a free trial.

I currently use the Syberfix Remote Repair tool. This software will do all you want and is very affordable. Hope this helps.
