Remove Failed Exchange Server

By mm212 ·
I had an Exchange 2000 front-end server crash. This server did not store any mailboxes and did not have a regular backup. It served only as an external OWA server which connected through the firewall to our primary Exchange server. We had the hard drive crash so I put in a new drive and reloaded it with a different nameloaded. This new server had to have different server name since Exchange won't let you add another server with a duplicate name to an Exchange setup. Now, I have an non-functioning server in the Exchange System that I can't remove. If I select "remove server" from Exchange system management, it doesn't give an error, but the server is not removed. How do you remove a server name from the server list in Exchange if the server is failed and will not be returning?

I'm putting 5,000 points on here initially, but I'll award 10,000 points if I get an answer soon.

here you go

Use the first link first. Second link gives other advice that may prove useful.

Sorry! I reread the first page and it didn't say that ADSIEdit would require a reinstall. I was able to step through ADSIEdit and remove the server there. Thank you!
