Removing Dialup Networking Password

By saidanddone ·
I would like to remove the Access Password from Dialup Networking. This is the password that allows you access the machine when dialing into it. (I really I would just like to change it). I have seen references to something called the Password List Editor, but cannot seem to find how to access it.

Any suggestions ??

Removing Dialup Networking Password

Here is how to install it.

To install Password List Editor, follow these steps:

In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

On the Windows Setup tab, click Have Disk.

In the Copy Manufacturer's Files From box, type the appropriate line, and then click OK:

Windows 98:

<cd-rom drive>tools\reskit\netadmin\pwledit

where <cd-rom drive> is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive containing the Windows 98 CD-ROM.

Windows 95:

<cd-rom drive>admin\apptools\pwledit

where <cd-rom drive> is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive containing the Windows 95 CD-ROM.

seems to me it's easier to browse the cd and then install the software ,

regards,

leopold

Thank you for your response. I am still in my predicament, but at least I know where to find this application. Now I have to figure out how to use it.

You could also do a search for all *.pwl files and delete them all. This would however also delete other passwords saved on your machine.

Both above will work.

To change the password:
Go into Dial-Up Networking and highlight the default connection. Go up and click on connections in the toolbar. Click on Dial-up Server. Change the password.

Thank You, but my problem was that the password already exists, but I need to change it but do not have the original password.
