Removing exchange server from site

I am in process of removing the first exchange server from my site. I have rehomed my public folders, but when I look at the public folders resources in Exchange Administrator the old server still shows the folders (sizes, number of messages), and sometimes the new one doesn’t. When I look at the properties of the public folders it says home server- is the new server. I want to make sure I have everything done before I delete the old server but this is confusing me. I have read Microsoft’s technote for removing first server in an Exchange site, but no luck. I am having RPC 9318 errors like crazy right now and need to get that first server off my site. Thanks!
