Removing the IDE Harddisk Check!

Hi!...

I have a small problem... During startup of my Redhat Linux Prof. 6.2 Server it checks for IDE Harddrives... but i dont have any... I need a way to remove this check... its kinda enoying because the check takes about 5 min... Can anyone help me!

Hi !

Very strange. I have used Linux (Debian 2.0) on Compaq ProSignia with SCSI interfaces (no IDE-drives) with standard kernel (IDE support included). All work fine.
In any case you need to remove IDE devices support from your kernel. If this support compiled as modules, use configuration utilities to prevent loading those modules. If this support "hard-compiled" into kernel, you need recompile your kernel from sources. Read kernel-HOWTO for additional details.
