Do a thorough online check for EVERY driver required

With the advent of Vista (now, THERE'S a play on words!) many motherboards now feature chipsets that you'll have difficulty finding XP drivers for.

Make sure you have a detailed spec of the Vista motherboard and associated cards installed on it, then ensure you have ALL the XP-version drivers before you install Windows XP.

You'll also need access to a floppy drive for installing the SATA drivers for the hard drive(s), which will not be recognised by the standard XP installers.

Good luck!
