re:reset file and directory permissions

Yes, tried "fixacl1.exe" ..but still nothing. I get the message "You do not have permission to view the current permission set for drive:L, but you can make permission changes. But it will not allow me to svae the changes. I think the drive may havefailed..?

Have you tried taking ownership of the drive? Go to Properties, Security tab, Ownership button, take ownership.

Right click on the drive/directories affected, properties, security and 'take ownership'. Then add yourself if it doesn't do it for you...
