Resource scheduling

I am on the hunt for an application that will allow us to track “events” i.e. – A mass mailing, run monthly financials. So not your typical event manager per se. We also need to be able to assign how many people we will need and attach other metadata to it, be able to send reminders out, and be able to report at different levels i.e. – Company, department, individual.
Anyone have any ideas?
