Restoring a SQL 6.5 db on W2K

I am attempting to restore to a 6.5 db on windows 2000. I receive an error stating that it can’t restore to the current database because there is not enough space.
When I created the data devices I made them bigger than the actual size of the db, still receive the error and it is always the same amount it is looking for. Has anyone had similar problems?
