Restoring currupted exchange mailbox fro

By danielnlai ·
One of my user malbox is corrupted and I need to restore the mailbox from tape.Since I have Exhange Agent from Arcserve, I tried restoring it base on instruction listed on CAI website. However, when I tried to expand the Private folder under Store Information, I cannot do so and I can't see any of the mailboxes. I've chek the backup job and Brick level was selected and all mailboxes are suppose to be backup daily. Any ideas what isthe problem?

You need to have Outlook installed on Exchange box and configured with Exchange service account name. Also you need to send at least 1 message to this mailbox to activate it and you should be able to login to this mailbox from Outlook. You have to configure Arcserve Exchange Agent with this account and after this you should be able to see individual mailboxes.

If you go into "Restore" on ArcServe Manager and choose to Restore by Session, choose the session which was the latest, expand the session that look slike \\servername\dbaxchg2 and you should see the individual mailboxes.

You can then select which mailbox you require.

If you don't see mailboxes, I would venture to suggest that your backup has not been backing up at bricks level.

Have you checked your backup logs to confirm that each mailbox was opened and backed up (records this detail in the log file). Also check the NT event log to make sure it has registered the logons during the backup.

Good luck

In the Arcserve Restore window, under your Exchange Organization/ Site/ Server you should see a separate item labeled "Microsoft Exchange Server - Brick Level". If you expand this item, you should be able to see the individual mailboxes and select to restore the one you want. If you don't see this, I think that something must be wrong with your setup and your backups have not been done at the brick level. Hope this helps!
