RESTORING NT 4.0 BACKUPS TO WINDOWS2000

I backup using windows NT 4.0 but after I upgraded to windows 2000 and installed service pack 3 I can not be able to restore my data .Is the incompatibility between NT 4.0 backup program and the one for windows 2000 ?

Are you trying to restore the entire backup? If yes, of course, you're going to have problems doing that. The OS has changed.

If you are only trying to restore data, then it should not be a problem... I believe the MS backup program used inboth OSes are the exact same program.

What device are you using to backup to? Are you sure it operates fine under Win2000 by itself? Make sure you can backup from Win2000 to another spare tape (cdr or whatever you use) and restore from it.

I do use the same tape drive to backup in win2000 and Iam only restoring data no the entire system.
