Restoring SPS2003 beta to SPS2003 full version?

By FaisalMasood ·
Scenario:

We are using Sharepoint portal server 2003 since it was in beta stage. Now we have a lot of stuff created on that server. We don't want to loose it.

I've another server with full released version of Sharepoint Portal server 2003 installed. I did the backup of SPS from old machine & when I try to restore it on new SPS 2003 machine, it gives following error.

"The version in the manifest file does not correspond with the current verison of SharePoint Portal server."

Question:

1) How can I restore old SPS data into this new SPS machine, provided the SPS machine names are different.

I think this question would be best posted on Microsofts Community Newsgroups for Sharepoint Portal Services.

here's a link: http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups

it is my understanding that with beta that as long as you kept up with the updates to the release candidate, the beta RC and the retail version should be compatible with one another. Again, I would suggest you post this on their community newsgroup forum for sharepoint portal.
