Resurrecting a Laptop: Have Image Files, but no Windows Disk & No DVD Drive

By Inky960 ·
Laptop will read CDs, but not DVDs. No Winows disk (Vista) came with the laptop. On the 680GB HDD, there's an 80 GB Acronis "Secure Zone" with an image file that includes programs. But, the MBR was somehow erased from C - so the puter can't be booted and restored via the Acronis image. Also have the "factory" image on a DVD, but drive is messed up, won't read DVDs. /// I can format C: using a Madboot CD. /// I'm burnt out - can't think. Dead puter boots from external HDD, but not from external optical drive. Have ext. HDDs. Can use other computers - can switch out hard drives, etc.

Normally I think I could do this, but it's one of them days and I have a touch of flu. Dear God, somebody make it simple.
