retrive email & email addresses

Hi I have a windows ME PC that wont go past the win ME splash screen can anyone tell me which folders or files I need to back up so I do not loose the email correspondence & addresses in outlook express I will
be hooking the machine to another via a USB IDE adaptor any help would be greatly appreciated
