Reverting Back to Outlook 2000

I have a user who upgraded his office suite to XP when he shouldn’t have and it seems like there are some corrupted files. I want to uninstall XP and re-install 2000 which is the version everyone else is one. However, I noticed the outlook file extension was nk something. Will 200 recognize this file since 2000 uses pst files? Thanks.
