Reverting Back to Outlook 2000

By ljackson.desoto ·
I have a user who upgraded his office suite to XP when he shouldn't have and it seems like there are some corrupted files. I want to uninstall XP and re-install 2000 which is the version everyone else is one. However, I noticed the outlook file extension was nk something. Will 200 recognize this file since 2000 uses pst files? Thanks.

I would play it safe, and export the files as Outlook 2000 or 97 files.

nk files (nk2) are nickname files which Outlook uses to help autoresolve names when you're addressing. I believe Outlook 2000 also uses them. But OL XP still uses PST files, and they're in the same format as 2000; when we converted from 2000 to XP last February, XP had no problem recognizing them.
