ROAMING PROFILE

NEW USER CREATED, BUT WHEN I TRY TO LOG IN I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE ERROR. THE FUNNY THING IS THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS TO CERTAIN USERS.

I AM RUNNING WIN 2000 SER. WITH XP AS CLIENTS

Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - Access is denied.

This is an issue with permissions on the users profile folders. Right click on each folder and choose properties. The folder should not be inheriting permissions from the parent. You need to have the user listed with full rights as well as the administrator. Make sure that they also have auditing rights.

Check if this user is in a Group that have a Deny Permission.. this will affect the user to access the folder.

thank you very much. it works now but now I have another problem. I have cteated two shares on the server. 1. Public and thr other is Home. On Home I want the users to use it their their home folder and i created a log on script that maps to this folder, however only few users appear on the home folder and did exactly as per instruction given for previous error. Do you know what to do?
