router question

Im tring to install a smc broadband router. I have nt4 server using dhcp now. Do I use the built in dhcp function of the router . what is correct way of using dhcp with router. not sure how it all works together. thanks alex

I've done a couple of these and found the most reliable/easiest way is to disable DHCP on the router.

So, give the router a static IP on the LAN side and make sure that it is on the same network and sub net as your LAN. Exlude that address from your NT DHCP.

Let your NT DHCP provide the gateway IP (to the router)

Turn off DHCP on the router, enable DHCP on the server. Manually assign an IP to the ethernet interface on the router.
