I have setup a DSL modem and have a static IP. I want to be able to use PCAnywhere. What I need to know is how do I configure the router and modem. I'm using a linksys router model number BEFSR41 and an Action Tech wt701 dsl modem.

Port Forwarding

by AndyMcK In reply to Routers

You need to enable port forwarding on the modem. PC Anywhere requires 5631 (TCP) and 5632 (UDP) to be forwarded to the PC Anywhere host.

Have a look at the Symantec article and your modem's documentation to set this up.

Port Forwarding

Dunno about the WT701 but from having a look at the GT701 manual from the site you might want to try:

"Configuring the advanced settings" - "Port Forwarding"

On the port forwarding screen, enter the port numbers and protocols PC Anywhere requires (from the Symantec site posted earlier) and the IP address of the PC Anywhere host in your network and click "Add".

You may want to have a look at the manual that came with your modem to confirm where to find the port forwarding settings if they're not where I've suggested.
