hardware side (not mailflow,queues, mounts online, stores,services..etc)
– backups (verify backups)
– daily online maintenance (1am-5am)
– verify available disk space
– offline maintenance (which includes database defrag..etc)
….I have a question about the (offline maint./regular defrag)…….have you guys ever performed a normal drive defrag using the standard “tools” tab under properties for that drive in question? Any issues or problems?
or is offline unmount store, run eseutil the only way to (or SHOULD) defrag the drive. read in microsoft tech net that offline maint. will take care of the database defrag unless you get an error in your applications eventlog to do an offline, don’t include offline as a maintenance requirement.
but can you just defrag the drive itself manually is my question.
