Routing DSL with a dynamic IP

    Locked

    by tomasso ·

    Alright,
I’m planning to route DSL service through a 1-port Linksys DSL Router to a 24-port hub with 1 NT server and 16 workstations. Will this work with a dynamic IP?

This will work if your ISP is giving you the dynamic IP. The Linksys router however has a preset IP Address of 192.168.1.1 and can be changed by loging into the router and following the Linksys instructions. You will only need to change the address if your network is using a different subnet. Otherwise the router will issue the workstation addresses via the DHCP sever. The ROuter IP Address is used as the gateway. Hope this helps.
