Roxio Ver.5 Platinum

By owens ·
I have Windows XP-home. A few weeks ago I had trouble with my computer and had to uninstall Roxio easy CD creator Ver. 5, Platinum. you need an X P patch for this program which I tried to download from their site. This became a nightmare. First there download page did not work then finally I found a place to get the necessary download. I'm not sure what happened but I ended up with a foreign language after everything was installed. I know for a fact that I selected English during the installation. I uninstalled the program, went back and tried to get the necessary patch. Again their page was down. I could not find a place to contact the Web master. Nor could I find a real place to get help meaning there was no place that I could find to send an e-mail message for help.

No matter what I try to do now somehow that foreign language is stuck in my system when I try to install the program again. Does anyone have any idea where I could find this file and delete it. It does notgo away when I install the program. Or does anyone have any ideas on another program that does approximately the same thing that doesn't cost very much money. Actually I have had trouble on and off with this program ever since I've had it. In a way it's too bad because it wasn't terribly expensive, theoretically it does a lot when it wants to, and just as important I just bought it not to long ago. Thank you for any help

Dear Sir,

Thank you for trying to help. The website worked just fine. I managed to get the proper download in English. I reinstalled everything again however the same thing happened. Some of it is in English but the dialogue screens which come up to give you instructions are in German I believe. So un-fortunately I still have the same problem I can't get rid of that foreign language. There has got to be a file which is left behind during the un-installation. If I use the regular helpscreen that's in English however as an example if I click formatted disk the screen that follows to ask how I want to do it is all in German I believe it?s German. Thank you,
Roger

Your related Roxio help files are still using the foriegn language help files. Uninstalled Roxio completely, again. Reboot and then remove the Roxio directory from the hard drive. Now go to the Windows\Help directory and remove any and all help files associated with Roxio. This could be time consuming, for you need to view the properties of each help file to assure it is not associated with Roxio. Reinstall Roxio and the updates from the website given you. Should this not resolve the issue, youprobably need to edit the registry. Personally, I would uninstall Roxio, and I use it, and install Nero instead.

I hope this helps.

Dear Sir,

Thanks so much for your help. I decided to take your suggestion and get the latest version of Nero. Just out of curiosity I went into the Windows help directory. I?ll keep it simple, forget it. First there is too many. Some of thefiles don?t indicate even who they belonged to. Some of them say opened by unknown. So if Windows don?t know, how the **** am I supposed to know? As far as editing the registry, forget that too. I am not that computer savvy enough for that. Let them just sit there what ever they are, and where ever they are. So although I have to learn a new program, I did try something simple like formatting a disk, and it worked just fine, and faster. So when I get used to the program, I think I will like it.

What kind of angers me though, is that if you un-install something and re-install, in some circumstances like this one the program is not really fixed. I just bought Roxio Platinum not long ago. But anyway thanks so much for your help,

Sincerely,
Roger Owens
