This works on 3 of the 4 machines that I have deployed in the past week. For some reason this 4th machine has had issues since it was deployed. It ran fine connected to my network and the apps worked here. When it was connected at the branch office, it could not find the tree or server. Unloaded and reloaded NW client32 v 4.9 downloaded from novell support a few times and finally it saw the server and I was able to login, run the login scripts and browse the network. Then when I 2x clicked on the DOS application, it froze the PC and I had to reboot. I have deleted and recreated the icon a few times, but to no avail. I created the icon [same as I did for the other 3] from directions I received from the applications vendor. His suggestions [which work on the other 3] were to make changes to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG.NT file, adding EMM=RAM and upping the files= to 99. Then when I created the icon [after rebooting the PC] his suggestion was for the command line to be: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMMAND.COM /C G:\STAFFING\GO.BAT and to change the working folder to G:\STAFFING and then to change the memory to show all values =’AUTO’. Like I said I did this on all 4 machines and it just locks it up on the 4th.
I am ‘totally’ unfamiliar with XP as these are the first machines being deployed in a ‘win 98 se’ company. [needless to say that I am reading alot now] I have the XP PRO Resoursce Kit, but have not found anything as yet.
Is there any way to reset this PC to default values without reinstalling the OS?
Thanks in advance for all responses.
