"s" keyboard key on my Dell Inspiron 6400 does not work

By giorgio777 ·
I have a problem that started two day ago. My "s" key does not work on my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop (Window XP Professional SP3 ). In my on-screen keyboard the "s" key does work (I am typing this message through "copy & paste" the "s" from an old Word text file.
DOES ANYONE HAS A VALID SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM ?
Thank you !

And see if pressing the contact down works.
If so, then you've either got a buggered 'spring'/'clamp'/'thing' or a buggered key.

Otherwise, there might be a problem with the circuit board which connects to the keyboard. You might be able to pick one up for a few bucks.

with conductive ink and replacing that little contact, maybe by raiding some other person's similar keyboard. (Don't do the same letter! It's a dead give-away.)

You outdo the nerdiest of nerdom. What makes you particularly dangerous is your propensity -- tropism -- for dissimulation.

I learn from you.
