Locked

SAMBA

By theword ·
I am trying to get samba working. When I type the command SMBSTATUS in, I get "could.nt open status file /var/opt/samba/locks/STATUS..LCK
I found the file does'nt exist. Well I tried the TOUCH command, and that does'nt seem to work to make the file. So I went in to make the path correctly with the file..
So how do I make a file within the directory??? I know how to make a directory, but the make file issue daunts me.
Can you help???
Thanks,,,,,,,,,Pat

samba creates the lock file when smb is
started. The directory has to be created and
have the right permissions.

Try:
mkdir /var/opt/samba/locks
chmod 755 /var/opt/samba/locks

Then:
/etc/init.d/smb restart

if it still does not work run testparm and
see if your smb.conf is configured correctly.

If it still does not work look at your smb
and nmb log files also check your messages
file and see why it is crashing.
