Samsung 3d BluRay player serial number

Good day
My Samsung 3d BluRay player model BD-F5500 was stolen and I recently saw it at a pawn shop.I have the box with the serial number on it but the serial number on the Blu Ray player isn’t exactly the same as on the box.all the letters and numbers correspond except for the last letter.l phoned Samsung’s service centre and they told me that sometimes it happens that the s/n on the packaging and the device don’t match 100% due to the people that print the packaging.
What’s your opinion on this.
