Let's just keep you from getting in trouble. "SAP" is a Trade Mark'd, Registered Company. I was founded in '72 by five former IBM workers in Germany. (Where it still is headquartered) The five are: Claus Wellenreuther, Hans-Werner Hector, Klaus Tschira, Dietmar Hopp und Hasso Plattner. The company's name comes from: "Systems, Applications and Products", (<i>Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte</i&gt for the Data Processing business, hence- "SAP". They have a rather large and hungry Legal Staff whom would not take it well if someone were to use the term "SAP" for themselves.
As for the "ERP" it stands for: "Enterprise Resource Planning" which is a process, and yes you should be up-to-date on that. "ERP" is also offered in the "SAP" software packages for their customers, as are programs to handle tasks such as "CRM" (Costomer Relations Management), Supply Chain and Production Planning, Materials Management, Finance, Controlling, "HR" (Human Resources), Sales and Distrobution, and probably more. There are many other companies who are providing these software services, either as packages, or as services, or both.
As I said, you should keep up-to-date on all this, as it's standard business. -d
