General discussion

By Amjad Zoghbi ·

I have an Intel SS4000-E storage device, the spec says you need to connect up to 4 SATA-I hard drives. Do you think it is possible to use SATA-II drives instead? Is there such a thing as SATA-I controller only? If so, what happens if SATA-II drives are used on a SATA-I controller?

Thank you

i guess you are talking about Sata-I is SATA and SATA-II is SATA 300, there is no big differences between this two formats apart from the speed of data transfering. in this case you can plug sata drive to sata 2 controller.
