scanned documents tracking software

hi all,
in my organisation, we use a physical filling system i.e. cabinates, folders e.t.c. We needs a file management system to help us keep track of information. some kind of a database for storing images (pictures). scan the files, store them in folders, and view them when you need to from the work station so that we dont have to go into our cabinates to pull out a file each time you need to view information. Any recommendations??
