scanner

I have a scanner mustek 1200 which mustek says is compatabile with window xp, but I am unable to get it hooked up with their instructions. They say to go with the continue anyway when it says the scanner is not digitaly signed. Do I throw it in the trash and get another new one or is there hope yet??
