Scanner conflict

By saltglass ·
Is there a solution to the conflict between HP5510 and HP4890 scanners. Neither will scan properly if both are installed. Common error is unable to communicate with scanner. Both work fine if each one is installed and the only scanner on the system. Thanks in advance

This error appears even if one scanner is turned off. I am able to scan without problems if I use my old paperport scansoft software.

The resolution proposed by Microsoft is fairly simple and "Hand-y."

Can you not copy and rename the system file to be used with another device if the appropriate system file is called?

Or, is it a subset of files that would need to be reconfigured to be used in conjunction with the second scanner?

Seems like you could specify the files in any way that works for you unless there is an associated legal penalty.
