If it was written in Word and you don't have word, it may be simply a matter of you not having a RTF viewer installed. RTF (Rich Text Format) is the MS formatted text format that is used in Outlook (unless you are using HTML).
You can get the FREE! Word 97/2000 Viewer at the following address:
Try installing that and then try opening the email.
PS. Check the file extension. Word will read the following .RTF, .TXT., .DOC by default.
There is a chance the file is also garbled by corruption. This is common with email that is transferred incorrectly between two incompatible systems..the header information in the message gets fouled up and then the message itself is unrecognizeable to any other program.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
