Screen Black out

I am having incredible difficulty with my monitor. It keeps blacking out every 5 or so seconds. I am sure it isnt my driver, card or connection, so there must be something wrong with the monitor.

The light stays green,
Tried 4 different ati drivers
I turn off my monitor and back on, the screen comes back on for another 5 seconds

I refuse to believe that this is permanent.
Could it be dust build up?
