Screen Freeze

By tonyj ·
We have a Toshiba Laptop running XPP with Office XPP apps.
When you attempt to launch from the Task Bar, the screen freezes and the Task Bar disappears. If you wait long enough (can be 15 minutes) the program eventually runs.
Any suggestions (polite ones)?

It is possible that you have some system files corrupted and it if not then you might consider applying all the patches for WINXP Pro. I had the same problem, and all i did was to reformat my hard drive and then Install XP Pro again with all the service packs and the patches. That solved my problem.

Have been down that track. Every update/patch for both o/s and apps has been applied.

Hi Tony, not sure what you mean by "launch from the Task Bar" is that a program that has already been opened and has been minimised? Or do you mean the Quick Launch Toolbar (Immediately to the right of the Start Button)

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. The problem occurs when launching any of the MS Office Suite from the Quick Launch Toolbar. It doesn't freeze every time, and no pattern is evident.
