Screen Saver Extension and directory

By lyndell_sowers ·
I'm just curious of the file extension for Windows XP screen savers and what directory they are saved in by default.

*.scr is what I was accostomed to in Windows NT and the directory was the WINNT directory, but I cannot find them in XP.

Any ideas?

I think old Win98 screensavers are the ones that install themselves there, but screensavers in either the Windows or the System32 directories will be available for selection in Display Properties > Screensavers section.
