Secuirty Resetting Admin Rights

by phaneul . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Hi all. I have spent a few days searching the net for this information, and I’ve decided to compile what I need to do. The bits and pieces info I come across are just that, and I’m concerned there would be a conflict with different methods.

When I run ‘net users’ from the CMD prompt, it reads xxxxxx Administrator, xxxxxxx Help Assistant. I need to switch users from one to the other.

I need to do a few things to gain control of this computer before I move (and take it with me). Renaming it is one of them. Before I move, I still need to change the other user to helper. I also need to deny starting with a boot disc to the helper once changes are implemented.

I’ve only used the (standard)advanced properties to remove from the start button ‘run’, ‘my computer’ and ‘search’, If there’s any way to lock this down after I regain Primary Admin, I’d love to hear about it.

Running WindowsXP home, preloaded on a Dell Dimenion E521.
Thanks
