Does anyone know where I can download the entire
SP1 for internet explorer 6 so I can deploy on a secure Network. I tried microsoft but all you can get is just get the update file not the whole download.

Use a W98 PC

by TheChas In reply to Secure Network

Don't ask me why, but you can download the full setup for all 3 different versions of IE6 if you select the custom option and install later from a W98 PC.

The installer allows you to download the W98, Me, W2K, and XP versions of IE6 SP1.

Another option, is the IEAK if you have an existing contract with MS.

Just a word on this

by LordInfidel In reply to Network Security

MS "used" to allow the download of the entire browser. Now they just distribute the setup package.

However, there are 2 ways around this.

1- as chas said is the IEAK, But this is not as simple as you think. With the IEAK, you have to create a machine as a template, then "roll" your own distribution package.

2- a little pricey, but subscribe to the MSDN. They regualry send out updates to the various OS and program releases. And usually 3 times a year (don't quote me, i'm just speaking on how many of these cd's I have gotten) you get a IE browser versions CD.

But if you find an 3rd party ISP install cd (earthlink,mindspring,aol etc,) alot of times they will have the full browser install on the cd.

The easitest way is to

Buy a Mag with enclosed CD's find one that has the service pack you require and then install from the cover CD it's a lot faster and saves the hassle of going through a download from M$ in their Partners Site. Also you can install it on as many machines as you like with very little time spent on installing the patch. {Well that at least the way it's done over here but in the US you might not have that alternative.}
