Security Question concerning My Wifi Router software

Hey guys, I am using this software: My Wifi Router. I have a security question about this app: whether My-Wifi simply uses the IP of my local Desktop and shares the internet signal from my Desktop with my other devices connected over My-Wifi, or does it only transfer the internet-signal over the LAN-Adapter directly to my mobile and other devices and I should get myself security software on these devices?

      Internet Connection Sharing

I have not used this app, however it sounds a lot like a Windows feature that has been around for several years & I have used in the past: Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). With ICS, a computer LAN adapter can be shared with WiFi users via the Wireless adapter in the same computer. The main computer becomes a Gateway for other WiFi users with LAN adapter being shared. So I would imagine the same applies with My WiFi; you can check your network adapter properties to see what IP addresses are assigned to each adapter or run IPCONFIG /ALL from DOS command prompt to list adapter info. My WiFi appears to simplify the setup versus ICS, but same concept. IMO, having a hard-ware based access point/router would offer improved performance, security, etc., so prefer having a separate piece of hardware to handle this.
