On the first page you will need to set up a form with the action attribute set to the name of the second form.

<form action="test2.asp" method="post">

Then add a standard submit button.

<input type="submit">

This sends the value of allof the input controls that are contained in that form.

On the second page use "Request.Form("name_of_input")" to get the data. The following code takes the value of the control named "group" from the requesting page and prints it to the screen.

text = Request.Form("group")
Response.write text
%>

I think the Request.Form property only works with the POST method of sending the form. If you use the GET method to send the data it is a completely different way to get to the data.
To query a database with this you can use the variable "text" in an SQL statement.

"SELECT names FROM tblNames WHERE groupName = " & text
