Send option not working in Excel or Word

When selecting the Send option from the file menu of Word or Excel, the email box appears but it won't actually send the document. We use Outlook 98 as our mail program. This only is happening on one PC so I assume it must be a setting in either Outlook or MS Office?

Are you sure Outlook 98 is the default email program on that PC(In Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Programs.) If it is Outlook Express the email box that appears is similar to Outlook's.

All the settings are correct. What is strange is that if you click on the send button several times in succession it finally sends the email. It's not a hardware problem because every thing else works fine by clicking normally??
