Sendmail question

I have a runnable BIND without registered domain.
I’ve installed sendmail and I can send emails.
The problem is that when I try to send email to for example root@my.ip.address.here sendmail logs says Host unknown( name server: my.ip.address.here: host not found).
As I sayd I do not have a registered domain.
Is it possible for sendmail to receive emails without registered domain names ?
