Seperate Support Groups

by bchristensen . Updated 22 years ago

Hoping others can tell me how they support technology. From past posts of others I see this is a topic, but no real answers. It would be nice if everyone could share what their site does.
Questions:
1)Does your site support by function, example groups for imaging, deployments, sw installation, printer support ect.
2)What is your user to desktop support ratio?
3)I would be interested in hearing how other companies support high speed access (through and ISP/VPN).
-Number of high speed users?
-Desktop staff required to support High Speed?
-Desktop staff required to support mobile users?
-Hardships incurred and resolutions?
4)Contractor vs. Employee ratio

At my site we have over 30 locations to support. Aprox. 5000 PCs (production and office)300 RF equipment (handhelds and truck mounts), 500 field reps with high speed, 1600 printers, 90 supported software packages, numerous dumb terminals and other pheripherials. We have 15 desktop specialists and different plants doing support, project involvement, process improvement, conference room support (projectors,etc..), 1 is dedicated to executive support. High percentage is remote support……they do procurement, asset management, vendor management,VPN support, deployments, some imaging. They are on call for production that is going 5×24 with OT on weekends sometimes. There is a little of our life. Looking for how others are setup.

Hope others can post what their sites look like for support.
