Server Availability - Uptime Reporting

By Scott_E_Perkins ·
I need to find a good tool to run under NT to monitor our NT server farm availability. At this point I am most interested in pinging the servers and reporting availability from this data. At some point I would like to track application/service availability as well. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Server Availability - Uptime Reporting

try using What'sUp Gold - simple, relatively inexpensive package that allows you to track a lot of other devices besides the NT server (e.g. services on unix machines, network routers, etc)

I believe Adrem NetCrunch is more effective, you can check all IP nodes availability, SNMP, monitor NT PerfMon, and creates reports

Another Option

We are currently using What's Up Gold by Ipswitch to monitor the network. It is a robust package that allows varying levels of alerts transmitted in numerous fashions as well as service level monitoring on pretty much all windows platforms. It also comes bundled with a web reporting software called Denika. Here's a link you can look at

Hope that helps. By the way we are looking at some benchmarking and industry standards to compare our systems too. Do you have any recommendations?
