Server Monitoring

By gofishdave2003 ·
Hi All

I am after a simple software solution that can monitor a number of servers, if one goes down I can then be notified by a simple SMS text message.

There are products on the market but require the cell phone to be connected to the internet. I don't want this type of solution.

I hope that someone can point me in the right direction or shed some light on this problem.

Thanks in advance.
Regards
David

David,

There are several products on the market which will allow you to accomplish your aims.
1st, have you decided on the software to use to enable the monitoring. (If not give me a shout)
2nd, Why not use e-mail to send your sms, remember there are services out there that you send a mail and they will forward your mail as an SMS message.
A couple of examples are SMSXchange.com or if you are in the UK and use Orange, you can set up an SMS alert for every e-mail that arrives at your Orange mailbox. So set you monitoring software to mail your Orange mailbox and an alert will be sent to your phone.

I work for a managed services firm and we deal with many packages for monitoring servers.
