Server won't join Domain

By dliby ·
I have a w2k server that was in a workgroup. I am trying to make it join a Domain. The error I get is "Network location cannot be reached" I can attach other w2k servers to the same Domain.

AD domain or NT4 flat domain?
Let's assume you are running AD.
Make sure this Win2K server has the primary DNS that is used by your Active Directory setup (with the RR records that point to your domain controllers).

As said by the above poster, chk DNS settings for the server in question. Further, if that doesn't help, you can try adding the Server Account from your AD itself. Get into AD Users & Computers and add the computer account firtst from ther, and thentry adding the server to domain.
Are you able to ping the network? Can you access any network resources?
Let us know what is the status.

I've seen the same problem. It was DNS. Check your DNS forward and reverse by running nslookup by name and number.
