Service failure notice

By jlivingston ·
I need to have my servers page me when a service (particularly the www service) fails. I know there is a way to send an email alert but for the life of me can't find where. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Service failure notice

There is a utility called WhatsUp Gold at http://www.ipswitch.com. This tool will monitor network elements and system services and generate an alarm when there is a problem. It also includes support for notification via e-mail, beeper, voice and would allow you to view the status of a network map from a web browser. Added benefits- runs in background so no extra hardware; easy to use; will run on any 32-bit os.

Let me modify my previous answer a bit. WhatsUp Gold really is an enterprise answer but there is a much less expensive version titled simply Whats Up. It is free to try but $99.00 to buy. Very robust utility though.
